Earthquake
We just had a little (4, 6.4 in other parts of the island) earthquake here, it lasted a full minute and was shaking pretty hard. Nothing bad happened though.
Ya-ping's grandma came home from the hospital again today. She looks really bad and at this point seems to be basically just a vegatable with occasional spurts of pain. Her whole family has been going insane trying to take care of her, and I can only hope that she gets to rest soon.
I still only have one student, although possibilities for more are finally starting to present themselves. I also spent a couple of hours every afternoons tutoring sister#3's girls in math and english, and that is a lot of fun.
For breakfast today sister#1 bought me an apple, raisin, sesame seed, cucumber, peanut, sunflower seed, sprouts, onion, vegetarian hairy meat sandwich. I wanted to take a picture but didn't think it would be polite. It wasn't half bad, actually. I'm having issues with the sanitation practices with the food here. Yesterday Ya-pings mom served (among other things) day-old salmon. Not day-old in that it had been in the fridge for 24-hours, but day old in that it had been out in a non-air conditioned room with nothing but an umbrella-like net over it to keep the flies away (or, in this case, trap the fruit flies that were attacking the neighboring bananas, in) for a full day (it was put in the fridge overnight). It was changing color. I drew the line at letting Preston eat that. On a possibly related note, the poor baby is a little sick, but doing really well overall.
Ya-ping is really loving the freedom that being a native and having your own form of transportation brings (and having a nice husband who takes care of the baby when you want to do something is nice too). She also loves going out with her nieces because they are really cute and get excited.
Preston started waving his hands in church last week while watching the conductor conduct the hymns, and ever since, he waves his hands to music, it's really cute. He can also say "Dog" and barks whenever he sees sister#3 (the one with the dog).

Does he say dog in Chinese or English? I knew he would start talking more while you were gone. I am sure you don't miss our snow, but we don't envy your earthquakes. We miss you!
